1. Who we are

EvenSides is a software platform operated by EvenSides LLC, a Massachusetts limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). The platform is accessible at evensides.com.

For privacy questions or requests: alex@evensides.com

This policy describes what personal data we collect, why, and what your rights are. By using the platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

2. What we collect

We collect only what's needed to run the platform.

You give us directly when you sign up and create a profile:

We collect automatically when you use the platform:

We do not collect:

3. About profile photos

A profile photo is required to use EvenSides. Organizers build teams quickly with players they may not know personally, and a photo helps them and other players recognize you on the field.

You do not have to use a photo of your face. Acceptable photos include face photos, side profiles, photos showing you in soccer gear, or any image that meaningfully aids in-person recognition. We do this so that players who prefer not to display a face photo (for religious, personal, safety, or any other reason) can still participate.

What's not acceptable: blank avatars, default placeholders, photos of other people, photos of pets or objects, celebrity photos, or images so distant or low-quality that nobody could recognize you from them. We may ask you to replace a photo that does not reasonably support recognition.

We do not perform facial recognition or biometric processing on profile photos. Photos are stored and displayed only. They are not analyzed by automated systems to identify, classify, or match faces.

If you no longer wish to have a photo on the platform, you must delete your account. The photo cannot be removed while keeping your account active.

4. How we use your data

We use your data to:

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not show you ads. We do not use your data to train AI models.

5. Who sees your data

Within your group: Other members of groups you join can see your name, photo, position, dominant foot, and self-description. Your skill rating, date of birth, phone number, and email are not shown to other players.

Organizers: Group organizers can see additional fields including your skill rating, contact email, phone number, and any notes you share with them.

Third-party service providers we use:

These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security obligations.

We will share data with law enforcement if required by valid legal process.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account, what happens depends on which deletion option you use:

Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days after deletion. Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.

Minor waiver consent records (section 8) are kept as legal records. They are not linked to any player account and are not deleted when a player account is deleted.

7. Your rights

You can:

We do not send marketing emails. You will only receive transactional emails related to your games and account.

If you are in California, the EU, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights, we will honor reasonable requests under applicable law to the extent practical for a small platform.

8. Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to hold an EvenSides account. Minors never have accounts, profiles, skill ratings, or any presence on the platform as players.

A parent or legal guardian who is present at a game may sign a participation waiver on behalf of a minor. This is the minor participation waiver (version PM-1-2026). It can be signed online through our waiver form, or on paper directly with the group organizer.

When the online form is used, we store a consent record containing: the minor's name and age, the parent or guardian's name, the parent's phone number, an emergency contact, the group and game date the waiver covers, the photo consent choice, the parent's attestation that they were present, the parent's typed signature, the waiver version, a timestamp, the IP address the form was submitted from, and the browser user-agent string.

These records exist to document that consent was given. They are not player profiles. They do not create an account, a login, or a roster entry for the minor, and they are not visible to other users. Only the organizers of the group the waiver was signed for and EvenSides administrators can see them.

We do not otherwise knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, contact alex@evensides.com and we will delete the account.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, hashed passwords (via Supabase Auth), and access controls. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects you, we will notify you and any required regulators in line with Massachusetts data breach law.

10. International users

The platform is operated from the United States. If you use it from outside the US, your data is transferred to and stored on US-based servers.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or email. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
